Why hard water punishes the UC-15I most

Every ice maker in the house meets the same 14-to-28-grain JEA water, but the UC-15I meets more of it. A standard freezer ice maker fills a mold, freezes it, and harvests — intermittent contact. The UC-15I flows water continuously across a chilled plate to grow a clear sheet, then cuts it into cubes.
